Here Comes Winter: Quilted Projects to Warm Your Home

Are you ready for Winter?  Eager for cooler weather?  Wanting to make beautiful quilted items to decorate your home and/or for gifts?  Martingale has recently published a new book that has 19 festive projects that are absolutely perfect for the Winter season.

Here Comes Winter: Quilted Projects to Warm Your Home, by Jeanne Large and Shelly Wicks,
published by Martingale is packed with fun projects to decorate your home for the wintertime, as well as to give as gifts.

There are actually 19 festive projects in this book, each with easy to follow instructions and great visuals, making this a book perfect for quilters of all levels.

The majority of the projects are based on simple piecing, some with chunky applique', and earthy color palettes than the authors are known for.  But SewCalGal also believes these designs would work well using colors and fabric prints for other seasons, as well.

There are fun wintertime motifs that include from snowflakes, Christmas trees, reindeer, snowmen, lights and more.  Applique' techniques for these projects use easy fusible techniques and insights are shared for basic hand embroidery, but you can also do machine applique.

I think you'll also fall in love with the applique' and block designs and quickly come up with ideas for making these designs your own, for endless possibilities of future projects (as if the 19 beautiful projects in this book aren't enough).

There is definitely a wintertime feeling to the designs in this book, but they are all so cozy and look so comfy it is difficult to pick a favorite.

Projects range in size from 6"x18"  to 75 1/2" x 93 1/2".

And projects include pillows, table runners and toppers, lap quilts, door banners, which are all excellent for decorating your home or for gifts.

SewCalGal hopes you get a chance to check out this book in your local quilt shop, or favorite online shop.  But don't forget that if you don't see it, to let them know you'd like to have them carry it in their shop.

And, of course, you can also check it out in Martingale's online store or at Amazon.

SewCalGal also wants to recognize and thank Martingale for being a sponsor for the Handmade Christmas Challenge.  A copy of Here Comes Winter will be one of the prizes and everyone is encouraged to make handmade gifts for the holidays and also invited to participate in the monthly linky parties for this challenge.
